The Transfiguration is rated as one of the most significant events in Jesus’ life and there are very good reasons.
On the occasion, Jesus took Peter, James and John up to the top of a mountain. There His clothes became, “Radiantly white” and the Old Testament Prophets, Moses and Elijah, appeared and spoke to Him. Simon Peter, afraid and not knowing what to do, said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you want, I will make three shelters – one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”.
A cloud then overshadowed them and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son. Listen to him!” The disciples on hearing this, “Were overwhelmed with fear and threw themselves down with their faces to the ground. But Jesus came and touched them. ‘Get up’, he said. ‘Do not be afraid’. When they looked up, all they saw was Jesus alone”.
