The generation that once created a vibrant economy is now facing the prospect of living out their golden years with little to no money.Baby boomers are notoriously self-assured, self-sufficient, and self-motivated.For generations, retirement income has been based on what is known as the “three-legged stool,” which refers to private savings, an employer pension, and social security. The comparative is attributed to an actuary at the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company who referenced the various planning “legs” of retirement at a social security forum back in 1949.So how are baby boomers faring in these categories? Let’s find out: https://bit.ly/3BcH8UgDisclaimer: Purchases of precious metals may not make financial sense or yield positive returns for everyone. How To Fix Social Security || Social Security Explained || Retirement Income Strategies In this video I want to continue talking about Social Security and especially how to fix social security (This is not a political agenda video. Strictly retirement planning). We are talking about social security because it is a major aspect of your retirement income strategies and your retirement planning. Social security, medicare, & medicaid will make up 2.5 trillion dollars of the 2022 US budget. This is a HUGE piece of retirement money, BUT social security is in serious trouble. The government admitted that by 2033, the social security trust fund will be empty. In 2034, social security is estimated that it can only pay out 78% of your social security benefit. That is why we need to fix social security and protect your retirement income! How do we fix social security? Well in a perfect world the government would budget, cut spending, and appropriate funds to social security, but we don’t live in a perfect world. So, we have to fix social security with the rules that are in place for social security:1. Raise the Full Retirement Age for Social Security beneficiaries2. Raise Payroll Taxes (Least favorite option)3. Raise the Cap On Taxable Wages Keep in mind this is only social security. Medicare will be empty in 2026. Who pays for all this? Again, not a political statement, just asking for my retired and soon to retire clients. **Free Retirement Download: The Roadmap to Retirement:**https://yourfinancialekg.com/#download**To schedule your free virtual retirement and investment consultation with Drew, please select a day & time that works best for you: https://calendly.com/pearlwealthgroup/15-minute-phone-call ****Please make sure you talk with your CPA, Financial Advisor, Retirement Planner, or Investment Advisor Representative, before implementing any content from this channel. Join the newsletter: https://robberger.com/newsletter/?utm_source=Rob+Berger&utm_medium=ATF+Link&utm_campaign=Newsletter&utm_id=YouTubeHow should Social Security, annuities, pensions and other forms of guaranteed income affect our asset allocation during retirement. Some argue that we should treat them like bonds. They offer near guaranteed, stable income, and therefore, they should constitute part of our bond allocation.A better approach, in my opinion, is to simply reduce or annual income requirements be the amount of these guaranteed payments. Then base our asset allocation on any additional income we need to generate from our investments.I walk through both approaches in this video.Resources mentioned in video & some bonus resourcesAnnuity Calculator: https://financialmentor.com/calculator/present-value-of-annuity-calculatorPersonal Capital (Investment Tracking, Retirement Planning): https://robberger.com/go/personal-capital/yt-65Kitces’ article: https://www.kitces.com/blog/valuing-social-security-benefits-as-an-asset-on-the-household-balance-sheet/Bengen article: https://www.retailinvestor.org/pdf/Bengen1.pdfKitces’ interview: https://www.morningstar.com/articles/702029/social-security-part-of-your-asset-allocationForbes article on valuing social security: https://www.forbes.com/sites/baldwin/2016/03/15/whats-your-social-security-benefit-worth/?sh=107ef6ca64d8Social Security Valuation Calculator: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Hzxj9VSC8GhF439C1udo5uQlnbjDPjmxFbgfLddcAKE/edit#gid=1540960016Investing Tools & Resources📚 My Book (Retire Before Mom and Dad): https://amzn.to/2MsRJ9B📈 Personal Capital (Investment Tracking, Retirement Planning): https://robberger.com/go/personal-capital/yt-65⛱ New Retirement: https://robberger.com/go/new-retirement/yt-65📊 Stock Rover: https://robberger.com/go/stock-rover/yt-65💰 M1 Finance $30 Bonus (IRA & Taxable Accounts): https://robberger.com/go/m1finance-bonus/yt-63📊 Morningstar (Fund Research): https://robberger.com/go/morningstar/yt-65💵 Tiller (Budgeting): https://robberger.com/go/tiller/yt-65🏆 Best Investment Tracking Apps: https://bit.ly/3wSbKZaPopular Videos:1️⃣ How to Create a 3-Fund Portfolio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmw8OpGp2rM2️⃣ How I Manage 28 Accounts in One App: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQk6EQk3iGg3️⃣ 7-Step Financial Checkup: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNWGWxKzKTY#retirement #investing #robbergerABOUT ME While still working as a trial attorney in the securities field, I started writing about personal finance and investing In 2007.
