How I Got my ITALIAN WORK VISA | Visa per lavoro autonomo | Live your dreams in Italy!

I am a US citizen on a permesso di soggiorno illimitata per lavoro autonomo, and since the beginning I have met shocked people who stared at me with wide eyes and open mouths wondering how I’d gotten it.

I never realized it was so difficult until I heard the stories of others. In any case, I hope to help others who want to live the Italian dream!

The steps went more or less like this (simplified for the video):

1. Got an offer to work for a school on a freelance basis.
2. That school’s accountant drew up a document stating their intention to engage my services.
3. With that document and my passport photocopy they applied for a place in the flusso.
4. Got a place in the flusso and the nulla osta. They sent those documents to me in the US.
5. I took the nulla osta, my passport, and other documents to the Italian Embassy in my state.
6. Picked up my visa, and after celebrating, headed to Italy!

To apply for the Italian start-up visa:
1. Direct application to the Italian government:
2. Application through a certified incubator: a good immigration agency located in Vicenza. Please be sure to check with an immigration agency in the city you want to move to in Italy, for two reasons:
1. They will have connections with the local immigration authorities.
2. The procedures might be slightly different from city to city and region to region.

Doctors and nurses can check with this agency for help in applying for health care jobs in Italy:
