A doctor in Texas who says he performed an abortion in defiance of the state’s new Heartbeat Law is being sued. 2 people filed paperwork yesterday, but neither of them is pro-life. Instead, they say they want a court to revisit the Heartbeat Law. The state’s largest pro-life group is also considering filing a lawsuit against the doctor. Also in pro-life news, the Supreme Court has announced it will hear arguments in a crucial pro-life case in early December. Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organization is a Mississippi case seen as a direct challenge to the abortion precedent of Roe v Wade. The court is expected to consider several other cases regarding religious freedom. Director of the Conscience Project, Andrea Picciotti-Bayer, shares her thoughts on the lawsuit in Texas filed against the doctor who performed an abortion. She takes us through this and how she sees it playing out. Oral arguments for the Dobbs case are set for December 1st. Picciotti-Bayer takes us through the Dobbs case, what the lawsuit says and whether oral arguments could provide any clues on how the justices might rule. She tells us what other cases involving religious freedom are being considered by the Supreme Court this term and whether there were any religious freedom or pro-life cases the court refused to consider.
